Echocardiography, or echo, is a painless test that uses sound waves to create moving pictures of your heart. The pictures show the size and shape of your heart. They also show how well your heart's chambers and valves are working.





How do I prepare for my exam?

No special preparation is required for your Echocardiogram.

What can I wear?

You will want to dress comfortably for your Echocardiogram which usually lasts 45 – 60 minutes. Loose and comfortable clothing will help you feel most relaxed.

What should I expect during my ultrasound?

During your Exam, you’ll lie on your back or left side for most of the test. You may also be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds to acquire a better image.

How do I get my results?

Results will be sent to your ordering provider within 48 hours after the test. Your ordering provider will deliver results and discuss the exam with you.
